South Australia’s own. World class. Family friendly.
What started as a casual club in 2003 became a full time academy in 2008, and we have been proudly based in Prospect since 2016. Whatever your goals, there is a place for you here. Our classes welcome complete beginners through to seasoned athletes chasing their next challenge, with expert coaching and a genuinely inclusive, supportive community behind every session.
Your first class is on us. Book online at least 12 hours before you would like to come in, so we know to expect you and can have a coach ready for you.
Our classes: BJJ, MMA, Fitness Kickboxing

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Grappling built on leverage and position rather than size and strength. Trained in the Gi and No Gi, on a structured curriculum with formal gradings, in the Carlson Gracie Senior lineage.

Mixed Martial Arts
The stand-up and clinch game: punches, kicks, knees, elbows and the clinch work that separates MMA from boxing. Pair it with BJJ for the complete picture.

Fitness Kickboxing
Forty five minutes on pads and heavy bags. Strength, co-ordination and a genuine release, with no sparring and no contact between members.

Kids Classes
Kids BJJ and Kids MMA, Monday to Thursday afternoons, in two age groups. Confidence, discipline and respect, taught by coaches with current Working With Children Checks.

I had never done kickboxing before and was worried that I might fall behind if I just joined a class. But my concerns were completely unfounded. Suasday is very attentive to his students and provides corrections and support with each move. The atmosphere is incredibly…

Incredible facilities and great pricing! I joined Chau Kaizen over a month ago, and from day one felt so welcomed. Everyone is so polite and professional. The sensei’s and coaches are world class in their knowledge of martial arts.

Personal training
Group classes suit most people. Some situations are better served one to one. Suasday takes a limited number of personal training clients at the Prospect gym, working directly with:
- Complete beginners who would rather build a base privately before stepping into a class
- Anyone training around an injury, or returning after a long layoff
- Members who want to progress faster than two classes a week allows
- Competitors preparing for a specific grappling or MMA event
Sessions are built around you rather than a template, drawing on more than 27 years of coaching, Certificate IV level fitness and personal training qualifications, and CHEK nutrition and lifestyle coaching.
Places are limited, since these run around the class timetable. To enquire, text or call 0481 859 596 or email info@chaukaizen.au.
Meet your head coach

Chau Kaizen is led by Suasday Chau, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt graded by Mick Moloney in September 2023, in the lineage of Grandmaster Carlson Gracie Senior.
Before BJJ, Suasday trained and competed across Karate, Muay Thai, Judo and Tang Soo Do, taking gold at an International Tang Soo Do World Martial Arts Championship. He went on to compete professionally in mixed martial arts, including for ONE Championship, the largest MMA promotion in Asia, making his debut for them in Phnom Penh in his family’s ancestral home of Cambodia.
He has taught martial arts in Adelaide for over 27 years, and holds Certificate IV qualifications in fitness and personal training, including a specialisation in training children and adolescents.
What that means for you is simple. The person taking your class has done it, at the level where it counts, and has spent far longer learning how to teach it safely to a beginner.
Tenacity, humility and respect. Leave your ego outside, and everyone on the mats is equal.
