Chau Kaizen is located at the rear building, 80 Churchill Road, Prospect SA 5082, South Australia. Prospect is immediately north of the Adelaide CBD, about a 10 minute drive.

What days do you run classes?

Chau Kaizen runs classes Monday to Thursday. Session times vary by day, with the earliest class at 6:00am and evening classes running until 8:00pm. Kids classes are in the late afternoon. Unlimited classes on a 52 week contract are $60 per week. Kids memberships range from $17 to $29 per week depending on age group, how many classes a week, and contract length. Chau Kaizen takes 25% off all memberships for veterans and emergency services personnel. The discount applies to both adult and kids memberships, and extends to immediate family members only. Proof of service or eligibility is required. Chau Kaizen is trusted by the Australian Army to deliver Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training.

What is the difference between BJJ and MMA?

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a grappling art built around takedowns, positional control and submissions. It is trained in two forms: BJJ Gi, wearing the traditional uniform, and BJJ No Gi, in shorts and a rash guard. Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) combines striking, wrestling and submission grappling into one system. Chau Kaizen teaches both, and plenty of members train both.

What lineage is your Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

Chau Kaizen’s Brazilian Jiu Jitsu lineage runs from Grandmaster Carlson Gracie Senior, to Professor Olavo Abreu, to Bernard Jenkins, to Mick Moloney. Training follows a structured curriculum with formal gradings.

Is it suitable if I am unfit or coming back from an injury?

Yes. Chau Kaizen classes are suitable for people who are unfit or returning from injury. Tell your coach before class starts and they will scale the session for you. If you are returning from an injury, get clearance from your doctor first. Fitness Kickboxing runs at medium to high intensity across 45 minutes, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu can be trained at whatever pace you set.

Do I have to compete?

No. Competing is optional at Chau Kaizen. Most members train for fitness, confidence and the community, and never step on a competition mat. Competition is there for those who want it, and our coaches have competed and cornered athletes at major MMA and BJJ events across Australia and Asia.

Do you have a Gi requirement?

For your trial class, wear your own Gi or borrow one of ours. Once you join, a Chau Kaizen club Gi is required.

What happens if it is very hot?

Kids classes are cancelled when the forecast reaches 35 degrees, and adult classes at 38 degrees. We are also closed on public holidays.
