Get fit. Learn self-defence. Join a community that pushes you further. MMA, BJJ and kickboxing classes for adults of all levels, building strength, confidence and focus in a supportive, high-energy environment.
Chau Kaizen runs three adult programs from one gym in Prospect, 10 minutes from the Adelaide CBD. Classes are for ages 14 and over, run Monday to Thursday from 6:00am through to 8:00pm, and every one of them takes complete beginners. Your first class is free.
Three programs, one membership

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Grappling built on leverage and position rather than size and strength. Trained in the Gi and No Gi, on a structured curriculum with formal gradings, in the Carlson Gracie Senior lineage.

Mixed Martial Arts
The stand-up and clinch game: punches, kicks, knees, elbows and the clinch work that separates MMA from boxing. Pair it with BJJ for the complete picture.

Fitness Kickboxing
Forty five minutes on pads and heavy bags. Strength, co-ordination and a genuine release, with no sparring and no contact between members.
An unlimited membership covers all three, so you are never choosing between them.
Training around work
The timetable is built for adults with jobs. Fitness Kickboxing runs at 6:00am on Tuesday and Thursday and at 9:30am on Monday and Wednesday. BJJ runs at 11:00am on Tuesday and Thursday for anyone whose day has a gap in the middle. Evening classes run from 5:45pm to 8:00pm across the week, and Friday is Open Gym & Competition Training from 5:45pm to 6:45pm for members.

What your first month looks like
The first class is about turning up and finding out that it is less intimidating than it looked from outside. The first few weeks are about learning to move, remembering where to put your hands and feet, and getting used to training with a partner. By the end of a month most people have found the two or three sessions a week that fit their life, and the technique starts to stick.
You do not need a fitness base to start, and you do not need to have done anything like this before. Most people who walk in have not.

Common questions
Do I need prior martial arts experience?
No. Every class is open to complete beginners and most people who walk in have never trained before.
What should I wear?
Comfortable training clothes are fine for your first class. Once you are training regularly you will need boxing gloves for Fitness Kickboxing, a club Gi for BJJ Gi, and shorts or pants with a rash guard for BJJ No Gi, MMA grappling and MMA.
Is it safe?
Classes are supervised throughout and technique comes before intensity. Tell your coach about any injuries before class starts and they will scale the session for you.
